The Science — NTNU Fitness Age Research
The most influential research on fitness age comes from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The NTNU Fitness Calculator, based on a study of over 55,000 adults, found that VO2 max relative to age and gender norms — what they call "fitness age" — was a more powerful predictor of mortality than traditional risk factors including hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia, and hyperglycaemia.
